Vacancy: Technical Sales Manager - food flavourings and ingredients

Our client is a leading supplier of ingredients to the food, beverage, and flavours industries. The company was originally established to manufacture concentrated citrus oils.

Over the years the business has achieved a strong growth pattern both in volume of citrus oils and by diversification into the manufacture of oleoresins and flavours.

Today, working in a close relationship with long established suppliers, the Company provides a comprehensive manufacturing and bespoke flavour creation service. It supplies clients on a global basis.

 The Position

The position will report to the Sales & Marketing Director. You will take full responsibility for the management and development of both existing accounts, and prospecting for new ones in order to further increase sales.

There is great opportunity for growing the business with existing clients by extended range selling, in developing new products, and via wider geographical expansion. There are also many potential clients to target for new business, so this will be a key part of the role.

Based up to c. 150 miles of Andover in the centre of the country rather than on a far flung coast; the position will involve travelling to visit customers and key account management, both in the UK and abroad. You will need to visit the HQ in Andover regularly.

Success will be measured by the attainment of sales targets based on turnover and profit.

Qualifications and experience

You will be a professional person with experience in the food flavourings, ingredients or food manufacturing sector. You will have a successful background in sales to food manufacturers.

You will have a minimum of 7 years proven successful sales experience within the trade, including export sales. You will also be I.T. literate on the basic Microsoft packages.

Training will be provided, as required, to enable the successful candidate to understand the very wide range of products available for sale.

The candidate’s personal attributes will include a “can do” attitude, tenacity, commercial ability, ability to network and negotiate at a high level and an entrepreneurial nature.

An ability to work within a close-knit existing team is essential. Other personal characteristics are technical competence, self-motivation, smart appearance, organisational skills, attention to detail, tenacity, integrity, a sense of humour and a strong work ethic!
